Amidst the many cafes along Jalan Dhoby, Koone's neon pink wall stood out the most. That along with its minimalistic signboard tickles the mind to at least enquire what is inside the shop. The swinging entrance door makes a good first impression
Koone Softserve serves well, soft serve ice cream. Like subsets of ice cream like gelato and froyo, there are slight variance in the ratio of cream and milk and texture which makes it distinct enough to be called a separate entity.
More air introduced during the process of making soft serves makes it softer than regular ice cream. This is done by a special machine.
Orders and payments are made at the very minimalistic counter.
Expect to pay between RM6.00 to RM20.00 per ice cream. They kept the menu choices to a fair minimum which I liked.
With the shop being 2 storeys tall, the obvious choice is to dine upstairs.
I chose French Vanilla. The brown chocolate chip along with the marshmallow makes this a very, very sweet dessert.
Next to it is a new flavour just introduced, 68% Dark Chocolate. I'd say the portion is enough for two person.
Overall the ambiance and visual presentation of not just the food but also the interior just enhances the food. Seating is very limited but if you are able to get a seat, this place makes for a very relaxing social space.
I'm sure I am not the only one that thought the shop's name is Kone at first. The second smaller O is on top of the large O.
Do give this nice little shop a visit the next time you are around the area.
